'mother andrina'

going community

indeed I had a 'super weekend'. last saturday, 24th july, my church youth went all out for the going community event. so what did we do? we helped to clean the one room flats of the elderly at sim lin road??

I prepared myself mentally for the worst. dusty floors, cockroaches and ants crawling everywhere... I thought that it'd be like the show on channel 5, renovAID! it turns out that the old woman whom we helped to clean her house, was clean! her white tiles showed no signed of dust and it was neat and well kept. initially, we talked to her in our horrendous mandarin and she stopped us and said, "could you speak in english?" we were more than happy to!

I really thank God for how truly bless I am. it pains me to know that there's people out there who are living in a house that is as big as 3/4 the size of my hall...

the island

that was the theme of youth alive's 19 anniversary. the hall of paya lebar methodist girls school was painstakingly transformed into an island on 25th july. I marveled at the youth anniversary committee's effort. from the skit, to the decorations! my eyes were on the teary side towards the end of the skit as I could feel the emotion of the story building up at the end. well done everyone! I'm so proud of my church youth(: and extremely proud of my cell girls as they went all out and wore sundresses! ( they only wear dresses when forced to)I feel like a mother to 9 girls. speaking of that, they call me 'mother andrina'. no kidding! and boy! going shopping with 6 girls to get their sundresses at 313 somerset ( that was the attire for the ushers)ain't easy! hahahhas

am so thankful that my best friend (since secondary 1)made the effort to come down and visit my church. we shared our beliefs and at the end of the day, I've learnt more about her.

honestly, I couldn't wait for last week to be over and now that it came to pass, I'm thankful that I was deeply humbled by what I've seen and learn over the weekend. with my two hands (small and scrawny), I'm gonna make a difference in my world.
