LOVE <3

something unknowingly compelled me to blog about this.

today, my family and I had a wonderful opportunity to have dinner with my ah gong and ah ma ( mother's father and mother) at the renown boon tong kee ( it's the famous chicken rice restaurant chain set up by my mother's uncle's wife family. bet you didnt know that! ). through out the 2h spent with them, I was amazed by how loving they were in the littlest of actions. like how my ah gong would put his walking stick together with hers, neatly against the wall, how my ah ma would always help my ah gong to cut his food into smaller and easier parts for him to eat ( as my ah gong had stroke, which resulted in disability of his left body).

at such a ripe old age, growing old together, makes me admire their love for each other. that really is LOVE. not the mushy, romantic, cheesy love but one that allows two people to stay together despite the many missing teeth, wrinkled & saggy skins, loss of hair....

*" love never gives up. love cares more for others than for self. love doesnt want what it doesnt have. love doesnt strut, doesnt have a swelled head, doesnt force itself on others, isnt always "me first," doesnt fly off the handle, doesnt revel when others grovel, take pleasure in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything..."

I hope that in the future, I would be able to be just like them((: that is, my friends, LOVE.

* reference, the message bible 1 corinthians 13: 4-7.

grocery shopping!!

mom: I just bought apples for you(:
me: REALLY?! I haven't had one since ages!
mom: they're not cheap, $4 each
me: so expensive?!
mom: you deserve it(; remember to SHARE.

I cannot remember the last time I had an apple. the supply of fruits in my kitchen has gone an all time low, not due to the current economic crisis ( hey, we're recovering!) if you might ask. my mom's pretty busy these weeks. it pains me to see her coming home late every night and even having to work on saturdays. *sobs

that is why,it has been 3 weeks since I did grocery with my dad at my hometown NTUC(: I know where to go to get what((: easy peasy! with basic knowledge like how much a body soap should not cost more than when purchasing ( not more than $7!), which section to go when buying toothpaste at the discount section etc. those are a few things I picked up over the years when tagging along with mommy. *beaming

following that, my dad and I each have to split the week's supply between the two of us as we carry it to the multi story car park. the journey always seem extremely long and heavy! I learn to appreciate my parents as they do that every week and that my fridge does not magically stock up by itself!

I feel proud contributing to the welfare of the teo family and it makes me feel more of a 'woman'
when doing grocery shopping. need someone to do your groceries? you can count on me(;

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TWINIE!

me: hey! now that you turn 18, you can watch watch m18 movies, go clubbing!
wan ling: yeah! I wanna go but I dont think alison and you would want to..
me: yeah. dont really fancy...
wan ling: you can sit down and drink water there(:

that was exactly what she told me and I laughed till my sides hurt. who is wan ling if you might ask, she was my primary 2 bestie and we lost contact and only reunited last year during poly orientation where we ended up in the same class! guess we're meant to be together. tee hee

we're so similar that sometimes I cant help but wonder if we're twins or former sworn sisters. some of our common loves include baking, food, we're both learning to play the cello and sooo much more.

I thank God for such a great friend like her and here's wishing wan ling, a happy sweet 18 and cheers to the many more years of friendship<3
